Drama Club and Play Productions
Why Drama?
The dramatic arts allow students to participate in God’s own dramatic activity of Creation, the Fall and Redemption. Through the work and characters of playwrights from across the eras students explore the triumphs and tragedies of life and bring the stories to the stage for our audiences.

A History of LLS Upper School Drama
The LLS Upper School Drama program started in the fall of 2016 with a Thursday Drama Club that met during the second half of lunch. Under the direction of Mrs. May and Mr. Scott, about 15 students from grades 7 through 12 gathered to play drama games, not knowing that they were really learning the essentials of acting. In the spring of 2016, the focus shifted to working on short, funny “stunts” that would result in the first production called An Afternoon of Very Short Works. Students who have long graduated from LLS still remember Biff, Ma and Pa, and Doc Robbins!
The next fall brought the first full stage production with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Barbara Robinson’s charming play about the wayward Herdman children finding Christmas was the perfect introduction to all aspects of putting on plays. Since then, we have staged two plays nearly every year, including a revival.
