The Classical Parent
The goal of the Classical Parent is to help parents dig deeper into why giving your child a Christian, classical, and traditional education is so very worth the sacrifices it entails. At LLS it is our desire to walk with you as you help your students receive a beautiful, faithful education that—by God's grace—will help them toward a beautiful, faithful life.
Mr. Freeman, the author of The Classical Parent, teaches in the Upper School.

Why Should Christians Read the Pagan Classics?
“Like the Israelites who grabbed some Egyptian gold on their flight from Egypt, we Christians too can grab some useful tidbits from those pagans. They got some things right, and since all truth is God’s truth, it belongs to us Christians anyway—or so the argument goes.” To read more, click here.

Is Learning Fun?
"The trouble with saying that learning should be fun is that it isn’t. It is work. Children know what fun is. Disney World, video games, cartoons, and playing with friends are fun. When you interject the word fun into learning, you have set yourself up for failure because you have created expectations that you can’t fulfill." To read more, click here.

Why Johnny Can’t Add
"Arithmetic is not something you learn—it is something you should have learned. It has no value other than as a tool for learning other things, namely more advanced, conceptual math." To read more, click here.
The Classical Teacher
The Classical Teacher is free and published by Memoria Press. Memoria is a family-run publishing company that produces simple and easy to use classical Christian education materials for home and private schools. It was founded by Cheryl Lowe in 1994 to help promote and transmit the classical heritage of the Christian West through an emphasis on the liberal arts and the great works of the Western tradition. Memoria Press is currently developing a K-12 classical curriculum at Highlands Latin School in Louisville, Kentucky, where its popular Latin, logic, and classical studies courses are developed and field-tested.
Reading Resources
Reading is a valuable learning activity. The number of books is not as important as the quality of books and the time spent reading.
